Welcome Week, formally known as Passages, at Illinois State University is a series of events designed to help new and returning students acclimate to campus life, connect with peers, and prepare for the upcoming academic year. This week is an essential part of the ISU experience, setting the tone for a successful and enjoyable time at college. By participating in Welcome Week, students can navigate the initial challenges of university life more effectively. It underscores the university's commitment to student success and well-being right from the start.

Efforts to welcome incoming students started on campus in 1955 and have evolved over time from a simple boxed lunch, tours, and receptions to include now social gatherings such as picnics, concerts, and block parties, encouraging interaction and fun. Guided campus tours help students familiarize themselves with important locations such as Milner Library, the Bone Student Center, and academic buildings. Some Welcome Week programs also include opportunities for students to engage in community service, helping them to connect with the local community and develop a sense of civic responsibility.
